This picture was drawn on a wooden
framed board dedicated to the
historic old temple named Senjuin
in Nagano which has a history of
more than 1,150 years.
In old times a short form of poetry, haiku
or waka, was one of the indispensable
cultures for decent people. Some of
them occasionally gathered to enjoy
making a long series poems together.
These events sometimes took place
in Buddhist temples. The poets often
had the completed poems written on
a board and had a painter add some
illustrations related to the themes of
the poems to dedicate the framed
board to the temple. In Japan the
paintings are thought to gain greater
beauty and value as the board and
paint get old and their color and
texture fade. We have successfully
made truthful reproductions of the
haiku paintings on the boards of
hinoki cypress with its unique
fragrance.
Please enjoy the serenity and beauty
of the ancient haiku world.
Quest’immagine e` stata disegnata entro
la cornice di una tavola lignea ed
e` dedicata all’antico tempio storico
di Senjuin nella provincia di Nagano che
vanta una storia di oltre 1.150 anni.
La popolarita` antica delle forme poetiche
brevi dello haiku o dello waka come uno
degli elementi portanti della cultura
delle classi piu` nobili le induceva a
organizzare cicli di letture comunitarie
talvolta ospitati da templi buddisti.
I poeti portavano spesso i propri
inconfondibile.Vi invitiamo a godere
della serenita` e della bellezza dell’antico
mondo degli haiku.

della “primavera”, ma le lettere sono
troppo indistinte per consentire una
lettura precisa.
Vi sono alcune tracce di polvere
